Is Jenson Button about to be fast-tracked into the presenting team on Top Gear?
The Sunday Mirror reports that Button is apparently set to join Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc on the rebooted show.
The former Formula 1 world champion is allegedly ready to commit to the series if there's a slot for him, and he is at the top of a 'wish list' of potential presenters to lift Top Gear after its highly publicised ratings drop.
Digital Spy has reached out to the BBC for comment.
Button has been on Top Gear three times before, with his most recent appearance being last Sunday's (June 5) episode.
Earlier this year, Evans revealed that the F1 driver was "so close" to being a host on this series of Top Gear.
Last week, the host said he reckons "hundreds of millions" will eventually watch the show, despite ratings being down after just two weeks.
Top Gear continues tonight (June 12) at 8pm on BBC Two.
